New parking restrictions approved in Wooler town centre
New parking restrictions have been given the green light in Wooler town centre.
Double yellow lines will be introduced on a section of Padgepool Place, on the approach to the main car park.

The ‘no waiting at any time’ restriction aims to improve road safety, following concerns about obstructive parking.
Double yellow lines are planned on the full west side of the street, on the east side at the the junction with Burnhouse Road and on the corner approach to the Cheviot Centre.
There were three responses to the public consultation with one in favour and two against.
The move was welcomed by Northumberland Cycling Campaign but one opponent said it could not be policed properly and another felt it was easy to find unoccupied spaces in the nearby car park following the introduction of a three hour maximum stay.
A report by Northumberland County Council’s highways department, delegating approval, states: “Parking in Wooler town centre is often at a premium, meaning there is a risk of displaced parking on both sides of Padgepool Place especially in the peak summer months which could otherwise obstruct traffic for emergency services.
“As a result, ‘no waiting at any time’ restrictions in the form of double yellow lines have been proposed to alleviate the concerns raised with obstructive and indiscriminate parking, with a section of parking directly outside residential properties to remain derestricted to allow residents to continue to park there.”
