Bid for 13 new homes in Ashington gets the green light from council
A total of 13 new homes are set to be built at a site in Ashington after a planning application was approved.
The bid by a Mr Richardson to demolish the existing property and garage on Reiverdale Road and construct four semi-detached houses and nine terrace houses with driveways and gardens was given the green light by Northumberland County Council planning officers under delegated powers.
The development will comprise of two house-types. The first being a two-and-a-half storey, four bedroomed dwelling known as the Ambleside.
The second house type, known as the Kendal, will consist of three bedrooms over two-and-a-half storeys.

Residents and visitors will access the site via the existing residential access from Reiverdale Road, with some highways works to be carried out to facilitate the development.
The planning officer report said “only the north-eastern part of the site appears to currently be in residential use, with the previously permitted two garages to its rear now demolished” and that the site has “also previously been used for the storage of showmen’s caravans and associated equipment”.
It added: “The proposed scale, massing and form of the proposed dwellings is acceptable and would not result in a dominating impact upon the immediate or wider landscape, nor would it constitute overdevelopment of the site.
“While there is a dormer bungalow adjacent to the site, it is acknowledged that the two-and-a-half storey houses are more in character with this central urban location.
“The proposed access arrangements to the site for all users have been shown to be acceptable and all vehicles requiring access, including refuse servicing and emergency services, can suitably access the site.”
