With Halloween just days away, new research by UK digital marketing agency Koozai has revealed where people across the UK are searching for Halloween inspiration, with several Northumberland communities featuring in the findings.

The agency analysed Google Trends data between 1 September and 6 October 2026, examining search interest in Halloween and related activities across towns and communities throughout the UK.

Bedlington recorded a relative search interest score of 59 out of 100 for the term 'Halloween', while nearby Blyth achieved a score of 54.

The findings highlight the interest surrounding Halloween in Northumberland during the weeks leading up to 31 October.

Bedlington leads Northumberland's Halloween searches

Bedlington was the highest-scoring Northumberland location in the general Halloween search data, achieving a score of 59.

Other communities across the county also featured, including Seaton Delaval, which recorded a score of 55, and Blyth, which achieved 54.

The results suggest that Halloween-related searches are attracting attention across Northumberland, with smaller towns and communities featuring alongside locations from across the UK.

While the research does not measure how many residents are celebrating Halloween, it offers a snapshot of where interest in the occasion has been particularly strong online.

Ashington tops pumpkin carving search rankings

Alongside general Halloween searches, Koozai examined interest in costumes, decorations, pumpkin carving and Halloween makeup.

Ashington stood out in the pumpkin carving category, recording a Google Trends score of 100, the maximum possible score.

The town also achieved a score of 65 for Halloween decorations, suggesting that searches for seasonal decorating ideas have been attracting attention locally.

Meanwhile, Bedlington appeared in the Halloween decorations dataset, although no numerical score was available for the town in that category.

Heddon-on-the-Wall also featured in the research, recording a general Halloween search score of 56 and a Halloween decorations score of 43.

Elsewhere, Prudhoe appeared in the Halloween costume searches with a score of 40, while Ashington achieved a Halloween makeup score of 52.

The findings offer a glimpse into the different ways Northumberland communities are preparing for Halloween, from researching costumes and makeup to looking for pumpkin carving inspiration.

How were Northumberland's Halloween hotspots identified?

Koozai analysed Google Trends data across five Halloween-related search terms: 'Halloween', 'Halloween costume', 'Halloween decorations', 'Pumpkin carving' and 'Halloween makeup'.

The research covered the period from 1 September to 6 October 2026, capturing relative online search interest during the build-up to Halloween.

Google Trends measures search popularity on a scale of 0 to 100, with 100 representing the highest level of relative interest within a particular dataset.

The figures do not represent total search volumes or the percentage of residents celebrating Halloween. Instead, they indicate where searches were particularly popular relative to overall search activity.

Although the research cannot confirm how many people will be taking part in Halloween celebrations, it highlights online interest in the occasion across Bedlington, Blyth and other Northumberland communities.

The research was conducted by Koozai, a UK digital marketing agency specialising in SEO, digital PR and content marketing.
