Application for electric vehicle charging stations at Starbucks in Berwick
An application has been submitted for eight rapid electric vehicle (EV) charging stations and ancillary equipment within the car park of the Starbucks in Berwick.
If approved by Northumberland County Council, this will include three fully accessible EV charging bays.
A planning statement for the bid includes the following: “The Government has clear policy requiring a step change in the roll out of rapid public EV car charging infrastructure because the current pace is too slow.
“In addition, the UK is heading towards a Government ban on the sale of new petrol and diesel cars.

“We respectfully request that this scheme be granted planning permission so that it can contribute to improving air quality and supporting economic development in the county and contribute to decarbonising Northumberland.”
