Community champions celebrated at the 2026 Love Cramlington Awards

The work and contributions of volunteers, groups and local businesses were highlighted at this year’s Love Cramlington Awards.

Organised by Cramlington Town Council, the ceremony took place at Cramlington Community Hub and was hosted by Ray Spencer.

There was a double celebration for Ryan Parsons, who was named Young Citizen of the Year and #LoveCramlington Overall Winner 2026.

Ryan is a Member of Youth Parliament and makes sure young people’s views reach local decision-makers. In his spare time he litter-picks streets, parks and estates across the town, and he coaches and referees children’s sport.

He also uses TikTok to talk to other young people about local issues and to run his own campaigns, most recently for free bus travel to and from school.

Ryan said: “I honestly can’t believe it! Winning Young Citizen of the Year at the Love Cramlington Awards was amazing, but also to be named the overall winner makes it even more special.

“Thank you to every person that has supported me, spoken to me and nominated me, it genuinely means so much.”

The CSR Business Award was a new category for 2026 and the winner was Home Instead South East Northumberland. This accolade recognises local businesses that go above and beyond to give back to the community.

The other award winners were as follows – Mayfield Community Centre (Charity of the Year), Cramlington Knit and Knatter (Community Group Award), Control and Move Fitness CIC (Youth Group Award), Cramlington Cricket Club – Stephen Parker (Sports Award), Pocket Wilds (Green Cramlington Award), Finlay Stubbs (Youth Sports Award), Stephen Perola (Citizen of the Year).

The town’s Mayor, Cllr Helen Morris, said: “These awards show just how much people in Cramlington do for each other – congratulations to all of our winners and finalists.

“Ryan is a brilliant example of what young people in our town can achieve and we’re very proud of him.”

Cramlington Town Council would like to thank event sponsor Cramlington Renewable Energy Developments Ltd, the category sponsors and everyone who helped put on the event, as well as all the guests who came along to celebrate.
