Services to honour the fallen taking place across the Berwick area
This year’s Civic Service of Remembrance for Berwick will take place at St Andrew’s Wallace Green Church on Sunday, November 8 from 9.45am.
Immediately before the national anthem, the Mayor (Cllr Jane Turton) and the Royal British Legion representative will lay a wreath at the designated war memorial in the church.
At the close of the service, the Civic Party, clergy, service units, Royal British Legion and other organisations will proceed to the war memorial in Castlegate for the Royal British Legion Service of Remembrance – starting shortly before 11am.
The Parade Commander will be Captain Keith Marchant, of Northumbria Army Cadet Force, and the parade will be accompanied by the Berwick-upon-Tweed (Royal British Legion) Pipe Band.

Music at the war memorial will be provided by the Berwick Concert Society Band.
Following the two-minute silence at 11am, local organisations will lay wreaths at the war memorial before the Civic Party and clergy – followed by the Parade – move down Castlegate and Marygate to the Town Hall, where the representative of His Majesty the King and the Mayor will take the salute on the Town Hall steps.
The Civic Party will then attend services and lay wreaths at Tweedmouth War Memorial at noon and Spittal War Memorial at 12.30pm.
The Civic Party will also attend the 6pm evening service at Berwick Parish Church, with the Mayor laying a wreath at the altar during the service on behalf of the people of Berwick-upon-Tweed as part of the formal Act of Remembrance.
