Bags of rubbish collected by litter group in Morpeth

A total of 27 people came along to the latest Morpeth Litter Group blitz on November 1.

With the size of the team, it took just one hour to complete the litter blitz in the town centre and 44 bags were collected.

Morpeth’s Keep Britain Tidy Ambassador, Dai Richards, said: “We moved a very large empty carpet roll that had been discarded for four months or more, a bike frame and many other items.”

The regular litter picks began in January 2018 after members of the Greater Morpeth Development Trust and Morpeth Lions became aware that a number of community organisations and individuals in the town were already undertaking voluntary, but random, tidy up operations.

To co-ordinate those already involved, a decision was taken to organise a series of regular community litter picks across the town – under the Morpeth Litter Group title.

For more information about the group and to join the next litter blitz on Sunday, November 29, meet at 12.45pm, email [email protected]
