Seahouses couple celebrate award-winning local gin at recent tasting event
People in Seahouses were given the opportunity to taste an award winning, local gin at a recent event.
The Ocean Club in Seahouses hosted its first gin tasting on Saturday, October 10 to showcase King and Country Northumberland Gin, created by local residents Susan and Clive King.

The event was organised by Carolyn Britton from the Ocean Club, and Susan King who created the recipe.
Carolyn said: “The Ocean Club was delighted to host their first gin tasting to celebrate the multi award-winning gin created by the King family.
“It was super to be able to give our customers the chance to taste this delicious Northumbrian gin.”
The gin won a Gold Medal in the Martini category, a Gold Medal in the Negroni category and a Bronze Medal in the London Gin category in the 2026 World Gin Guide.
Plus, it won a Bronze Medal in the World Spirit Awards, and the British Consulate took it to the Philippines where it won ‘Best British Gin’..
The King's family dog, Maya is their mascot and attended the tasting.
She may be seen wearing a specially designed barrel to entice partygoers to have a tipple of a King and Country Negroni at their Christmas tasting evening and party at Seahouses Social Club.
Recipe creator Susan King said: “It was so great to see people appreciate our multi award-winning gin. I can’t believe how much people enjoy the gin I created. I keep having to pinch myself that my gin recipe won so many awards.”
Clive King added: “It has been great to support my wife to develop her recipe through working with the local distillery at Rock and designing an award-winning label with our son Ben.
“It’s a real family affair with elder son Jack also supporting marketing and sales. The gin tasting today was a great way to celebrate our awards.”
The next King and Country Gin Tasting is at the Ocean Club Christmas Fayre on Saturday, November 14 from 10am to 4pm.
For those who can’t make that, King and Country are hosting a Christmas Party on Saturday, December 19 from 7pm at Seahouses Social Club.
