New measures to stop speeding in Bamburgh receive the green light
New traffic calming measures in Bamburgh have been given the green light.
A public consultation was held on proposals for raised tables on two of the main approaches to the village after concerns were raised about ‘excessive traffic speeds and road safety’.

The proposals for the B1342 Radcliffe Road and B1340 Links Road have now been formally approved by Northumberland County Council.
Of the eight respondents, seven were in favour.
One resident said: “Have constantly asked for something to be done. They treat the road like a race track there, I'm talking 60mph at least. It’s absolutely shocking.”
Rumble strips had previously been in place but they were removed several years ago after falling into disrepair.
A report by council officers stated: “Given the nature of the road layouts being wide, long stretches of straight road and residential properties situated directly adjacent to this, concerns have been raised regarding vehicular speeds along this route.
"Speed surveys revealed that average speeds are above the 85th percentile and this is likely due to the lack of traffic calming measures in place at both locations.
“As a result, new traffic calming features are proposed to be implemented in the form of raised tables which will encourage slower speeds.
"These are considered to be the most appropriate form of traffic calming measures on this route given its high level of traffic which includes bus services along with the need to reduce speeds directly outside residential properties where pedestrians are more likely to be prominent.”
The scheme will be financed through the Local Transport Plan 2026/29 programme.
