The annual Blyth Fireworks will take place on Halloween, on Saturday, October 31, from 4pm, with the fireworks starting at 7pm.

The event will take place at Mermaid Car Park where there will be food traders and a funfair.

Morpeth fireworks will return to Morpeth Rugby Club on Sunday, November 1, beginning at 5pm.

A free fireworks display will take place on Guy Fawkes night, November 5, at Embleton on the field behind the playpark from 6:30pm with a food van onsite.

The following weekend, at Newbiggin-by-the-Sea, a fireworks display will take place on Saturday, November 7 alongside local food vendors and entertainment.

On the same evening, Alnwick Round Table have organised a fireworks display at Alnwick Town Football Club from 6:30pm.

The club will have their bar open on the evening for refreshments and there will also be food vendors and a funfair.

While Bonfire Night is a fun annual tradition, Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service (NFRS) are reminding people that fireworks and bonfires can pose serious risks when not used correctly.

Residents are being reminded to buy fireworks from reputable retailers only, read and follow the instructions on every firework and choose an organised display if they can.

They are also asking that people check bonfires for wildlife before lighting them and be mindful of the wider impact fireworks can have on animals by considering nearby farms and livestock and informing neighbours of planned fireworks in advance.

Councillor Gordon Stewart, Cabinet Member for Public Safety and Fire Authority Chair, said "Bonfire Night is enjoyed by many across Northumberland. By planning ahead, buying fireworks from reputable retailers and following safety advice, residents can help make sure everyone has a safe and enjoyable evening."

Marie Devlin, Prevention Manager at Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service, said "The safest way to enjoy fireworks is at an organised display. If you're celebrating at home, follow the Firework Code, supervise children closely and consider the impact on neighbours, pets and wildlife."
