Northumberland physiotherapy and Pilates business to open second clinic in Morpeth

A new physiotherapy and Pilates clinic is set to open in Morpeth as the business aims to expand across Northumberland.

JL PhysioFit first launched in Ponteland in 2020, combining physiotherapy treatment with Pilates to help people recover from injuries and improve their long-term health.

Following a successful six years, owner James Luccock is now preparing to open a second site in Morpeth in the new year.

On the ethos behind the business, James said: “I saw a lot of clinics with just one treatment room, a slip of exercises and off you go, and people tend to just circle back around.

“I thought there must be a better way to do it. The vision behind the business was to not only get people out of pain, but also stronger, fitter and healthier than they came to us before.

“People come in for an injury to be helped with that and then ongoing they join Pilates to keep the injury from coming back.”

Planned to officially open on January 4, the new clinic will be located at Telford Court, and is part of a wider plan to expand with multiple sites across the county.

“I see Northumberland as quite underserved in terms of good-quality healthcare,” James added.

"Modern physiotherapy practice is something which should have long-term wellness built into it, as opposed to having to leave the practice.

“The vision over the next 10 years really is to try and build four or five of these sites around Northumberland.”

The new Morpeth location will become a one-stop health hub spread across two floors including: physiotherapy treatment rooms, a rehabilitation gym, a members’ lounge and reformer and mat Pilates studios.

On the importance of physio-led Pilates specifically, James explained: “The depth of knowledge behind a physio who knows the body inside out and works with injuries day in, day out, means they are able to tailor a class to people's specific needs.

“We've studied for years and worked with many people in pain and injury, so we know how to adapt things and it's very safe.”
