Berwick Rotary Golf Day organisers grateful for support
A Berwick Rotary event enjoyed by golfers was also a major fundraising drive for The Grove School in Tweedmouth.
With 46 four-ball teams enjoying a fine summer’s day, although with a challenging wind, and the Goswick course in outstanding condition, thousands of pounds were raised towards the school’s appeal for new minibuses.
Chris Budzynski, one of the two Golf Day organisers, was quick to thank Goswick Golf Club for allowing Berwick Rotary to run the annual competition.
He said: “We attract players from Glasgow and Newcastle, as well as many local players, and the club and its staff make them very welcome.

“Many players come every year keen to play this premium course and the competition is very strong.
“I’d like to thank the players and all the supporters from Rotary who made it a special day.”
A total of 50 local businesses supported the day, by entering a team or by sponsorship, and co-organiser Dr John Watson was overwhelmed by the level of support.
He said: “I'd like to thank everyone who recognised that we were playing for a vital good cause and were so generous, including all the other golf clubs who gave day tickets for raffle prizes.
“We’ll be making a presentation to the school once the autumn term starts, but meanwhile please put 11th August 2027 in your diary for next year’s event – a quarter of this year’s teams have already re-booked.”
