Dogs spooked by awful storms
We hope everyone managed to survive these awful storms intact. The wind really spooks the dogs and has made it difficult to get the dogs out and about without the volunteers getting blown off their feet.
We've had a busy week at the vets this week getting the dogs a step closer to adoption. Toby had his final check after his dental and neutering. He has someone coming to see him this week.

Georgie had his dental and was neutered too. He was such a well-behaved dog and had to have quite a few teeth out. Skylar the four-year-old German shepherd had her vaccination restart and a good check-over.
Little Jet had his second vaccination. He's such a timid little boy that we can now start introducing him to the outside world.
Coco, the miniature schnauzer, already has her new home waiting for her, the plan was to get her spayed and once she had recovered she would go home but unfortunately the day we took her in to be spayed she came into season so she will be with us a little longer. Her adopter is going to do lots of visits with her in the meantime so they are very familiar with each other.
Dexter, Coco's son has had a visit from someone we feel will be an amazing match. He was extremely taken with her, giving cuddles and kisses. A walk with his volunteer and homecheck have been arranged. We are still looking for the perfect home for dad Teddy where he can be the only dog having all the attention and no children under teenage years.
Despite the success we have had with adoptions, all our kennels are full again. It just never slows down.
There are lots of ways you can help us continue to support our dogs. You could donate on our Facebook page, website or you could set up a standing order. Donating items to our charity shop on Queen Street in Amble helps to bring in money. Our shop volunteers do such an excellent job of sorting and selling your unwanted items.
Pattersons Cottage Boarding Kennels is our small number of kennels for daycare or overnight boarding. Your dog has the choice of snoozing in their comfy bed or being in their outdoor run watching what's going on. Our large fully enclosed paddock means they get to run around and let off steam either with or without other dogs, whatever is your preference, and being a rescue, dog welfare always comes first. Every penny made from the boarding kennels goes back into supporting the rescue.
Rescue Dog of the Week: Tai
Tai is a four-year-old Jackawawa. He has been in foster for a while as he was a very anxious and skittish dog. He wasn't keen to be touched and was easily spooked. It has taken a while to do things at Tai's pace and gain his trust. He is now at the point where he enjoys and instigates affection but a new owner will need to be able to read his body language and respect when he has had enough.
Tai absolutely loves toys, the Jack Russell part of him loves to rag them around but he doesn't destroy them. He also loves to play ball and enjoys a good, sniffy walk.
Tai doesn't know how he is supposed to behave around other dogs, we are working on this and he is improving but for this reason we know he would feel more settled as an only dog. We are also looking for a home with no children either residing or visiting.
Tai is very bright and super clean in the home. Tai will be sorely missed but he needs to find a home of his own now. If you think you have the patience to give Tai the calm, safe and active home he needs, contact [email protected]
