David Flesher, commercial director at LNER, said: “We're proud to once again be supporting this year's Great North Run by providing additional services and thousands more seats for customers travelling to the world's biggest half marathon.

“Whether you're taking part in the run, cheering on friends and family, or soaking up the atmosphere, we want to make the journey as smooth as possible. Good luck to everyone taking part, particularly our LNER colleagues fundraising for CALM and the many runners supporting charitable causes.”

Cllr Colin Ferguson, leader of Newcastle City Council, said: “These additional services will make it easier for more runners and spectators to join us, and I’m delighted LNER is once again going the extra mile to support this fantastic event.”
