Newcastle mac and cheese business expands with Cramlington venue
A Newcastle-based street food business has celebrated a busy week after expanding to Cramlington.
Since launching in 2016, Redheads Mac ‘n’ Cheese has become a firm and familiar favourite in the North East.

The business currently operates from a permanent shop in the Grainger Market and travels to various events, such as Leeds Festival and BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend, as well as Newcastle’s Quayside Market and Christmas Markets, from a mobile van.
Now, the team have expanded to Cramlington with a fixed shipping container at Manor Walks, which launched on September 1.
Owner, Jamie Pagett said: “We've been trading with the van in Cramlington as part of our street food route for probably about five years.
“We always seem to get good feedback every time that we're coming across. It’s always a good turnout.”
Known for their unique spin on traditional mac and cheese which often draws in queues, the team have celebrated a busy first week of business at the new location.
“The first week's gone really well,” Jamie said. “Plenty of locals have come out and tried the food.
“I think the food we are serving is really unique, it's just something different that you can't get anywhere else, really. It's not your generic takeaway.”
The Cramlington unit is open seven-days-a-week from 12pm – 9pm and Jamie says to keep an eye out on their Facebook page for weekly specials.
“Normally, when we go in the van, it's quite a restricted menu, but with a shipping container, we have other cooking equipment where we can add different items to the menu,” he added.
