New classical music season set to start in Alnwick
The Alnwick Music Society 2026-27 season of concerts begins soon.
The main season consists of seven concerts between October and May, all in Alnwick Playhouse.

The season begins at 3pm on Sunday, October 11 with the award-winning Chloé Piano Trio playing two of the most popular named Trios – Beethoven’s Ghost and Dvořák’s Dumky – and a lively piece by a Canadian composer.
Emma Johnson, the clarinettist, has been to Alnwick before. She returns in November, accompanied by Gregory Drott, and bringing a varied programme of classical works, along with music from great jazz composers and performers.
As part of the Music Society’s education programme, Emma returns to the Playhouse the following day, with four other musicians and a narrator. They will perform Instrument Stories for Year 3 and 4 children from the primary schools in Alnwick and the surrounding villages.
Other concerts in the 2026-27 season include Bradley Creswick (violin) and Margaret Fingerhut (piano) celebrating 50 years of playing together with an evening of popular, accessible works.
Members of the now Royal Northern Sinfonia also come this season with the 2nd String Sextet of Brahms and the less well-known Wind Quintet of Gustav Holst and the rarely heard Nonet of Louis Spohr.
There will also be a Cello and Piano concert, a String Quartet and a Solo Piano Recital by the exciting pianist, Sofia Sacco.
Tickets for each full-length concert are Adult £20, 19-30 years £8 with 18 and under free. Book via Alnwick Playhouse. Visit alnwickmusicsociety.co.uk for season ticket details.
