Northumberland MP Joe Morris completes his Summer Tour across Hexham constituency

A Northumberland MP has successfully concluded his 2026 Summer Tour.

Joe Morris held 80 events across England’s largest constituency (Hexham) over a four-week period, meeting hundreds of residents and hearing first-hand about the issues affecting their communities.

Events included a wide range of engagement opportunities – from informal drop-ins and coffee mornings to larger town hall meetings, ensuring residents had the chance to raise their concerns directly and privately when necessary.

This year’s tour marked the second time Joe has spent his summer recess travelling the constituency.

The locations in 2026 included Cambo, Longhorsley, Stamfordham, Heddon on the Wall, Mitford, Whalton, Stannington and Ponteland.

Speaking after his final event, Mr Morris said: “I am absolutely thrilled to say this year’s Summer Tour has been such a resounding success.

“My job is to represent the concerns of communities across the constituency and to be visible to everyone, regardless of their politics.

“For those who have been keeping up-to-date with my tour on social media, you will know how much work has gone into this tour and I’m happy to have managed to speak to so many constituents.

“Westminster can be a straitjacket and it’s always a privilege to get out into the communities I represent and hear directly from people about their concerns. Thanks to everyone who made the Summer Tour possible and to everyone who came to speak with me.

“My Summer Tour will be back next year – but I’ll be working hard until then to represent the views and issues of my constituents, whether here in the North East or in Westminster.”
