Northumberland Farmer Network programme for the next generation
The Northumberland Farmer Network has put a call out for new participants aged 18 to 40 – whether they are already farming, working on a farm or looking to develop a new farming-related business.
Its programme offers a series of practical workshops and events designed to develop skills, knowledge and opportunities for the next generation of farmers and agricultural businesses.
With funding from The National Lottery Community Fund, the Northumberland Farmer Network has supported farming communities for the past three years.
The not-for-profit, farmer-led organisation works to help farmers overcome challenges, make the most of opportunities and build a sustainable future for their businesses.

A programme of practical skills workshops and events will run throughout the autumn and winter.
Workshops currently planned include hedge laying (September 26), stone walling (October 3) and bookkeeping (November 14 and 15).
Participants do not have to attend every workshop, making the programme flexible to suit different interests and commitments. One of the key benefits of taking part is the opportunity to apply for a £750 grant at the end of the programme.
Rachael Graham, co-ordinator at the Northumberland Farmer Network, said: “We are now entering year three of the programme that has helped participants learn new skills and gain confidence in different areas of farming, as well as diversification.
“The grant has also helped participants put some of their ideas into practice and make investments in their businesses.”
Places on the individual workshops are limited, so anyone interested is encouraged to register their interest with Rachael – call 07984 206203 or email [email protected]
