A step forward for £450m holiday village in the Scottish Borders

A new £450million holiday village that is set to create hundreds of jobs in the Scottish Borders has moved closer to reality.

The new A7 junction providing access to Center Parcs Scottish Borders has been completed on schedule, marking an important step forward in the development.

The junction, which connects the A7 with the site’s entrance road, creates the access needed to support the next stages of construction.

In time, the 2.5km entrance road will become the arrival route for guests visiting the village between Hawick and Selkirk.

Colin McKinlay, chief executive of Center Parcs, said: “Completion of the A7 junction is a positive step forward for Center Parcs Scottish Borders.

“It is one of the most visible signs of progress so far and will play an essential role in providing safe and efficient access as construction moves ahead.

“I would like to thank local people, businesses and everyone travelling between Hawick and Selkirk for their patience during the works.

“We are pleased that the junction has been completed on schedule. My thanks also go to RJ McLeod and everyone involved in delivering the work.

“This is a very early step in the creation of the new village, but reaching milestones like this brings us one step closer to welcoming our first guests.

“We look forward to continuing to work closely with our neighbours and communities across the Borders as the village takes shape.”

The junction works form part of the wider enabling programme being delivered by RJ McLeod, which also includes the entrance road and car park works.
