Opening of Coquet Community School welcomed by Northumberland Conservatives

The opening of the new Coquet Community School in Amble has been welcomed by Northumberland Conservatives.

The new secondary school forms part of a £47 million investment in the wider Coquet Partnership by the Tory-led Northumberland County Council.

Cllr Guy Renner-Thompson, cabinet member for Children’s Services, said: “This is a fantastic day for Amble and the culmination of years of work by the Conservative-led County Council to transform education in the town.

“We made the decision to invest tens of millions of pounds in Amble’s young people, and today families can see the result, a first-class new secondary school, improved primary schools, better sports facilities and new specialist SEND provision.

“This is what investing in our communities looks like. We have backed Amble with one of the biggest education investments the town has ever seen, and these facilities will benefit generations of local children.”

Northumberland County Council approved the reorganisation of the Coquet Partnership in November 2022, and the programme has included expansion of first schools into primaries, new facilities for the former Amble First School and specialist provision alongside the new secondary school.
