Rock Choir ‘Wear it Pink’ for Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Rock Choir Members from Chester le Street, Durham, Hexham, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Jesmond, Ponteland and Sunderland wore an array of pink clothing to rehearsals during a week in October, helping to raise awareness of breast cancer and the charity, Breast Cancer Now.

Rock Choir, the award-winning and pioneering contemporary choir experience in the UK, is well-known for its fundraising efforts to support both local and national charities. Supporting organisations and charities in each local community in which Rock Choir is located, is a key part of its culture and ethos.
Breast Cancer Now is the UK’s leading breast cancer charity. It has a bold aim and hopes that by 2050, everyone with the disease will live and live well. During October, the charity encourages people to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month and ‘Wear it Pink’ and fundraise for the charity.
Rock Choir Leader Rob Slater said: “‘Wear it Pink’ is something we do every year. Many members are affected by breast cancer and they ask me about this every October if we can support this. We do something simple and it starts conversations about breast cancer.
I just think we can have a massive impact as Rock Choir and this is something small we can do to help.
We join together for this one cause and everyone gets behind it to support Breast Cancer Now.”
Breast Cancer Now doesn’t receive any government funding and relies on the generosity of supporters to carry out its life-changing work. The money raised by ‘Wear It Pink’ could help fund a potentially life-saving research breakthrough, provide even more life-changing support, and help the charity campaign even more effectively for better services and care.
Rock Choir has 34 locations across Yorkshire and the North East and are inviting new members to join. There is no need to audition or read music and everyone is welcome. To book a free taster session go to www.rockchoir.com
