Alnwick’s Aln Valley Railway shortlisted for UK Men’s Sheds Awards 2026
Alnwick’s Aln Valley Railway has been named a finalist in the UK Men’s Sheds Awards 2026 after being recognised for reducing loneliness, improving wellbeing and strengthening communities.
The shed is shortlisted in the Heritage and History category for its outstanding work inspiring local men to connect and learn new skills.

Penny Ford, Volunteer Coordinator at Aln Valley Railway, commented: “We are delighted to be shortlisted for the Heritage and History Men’s Shed award.
“The whole Aln Valley Trust is registered as a Men's Shed, with the railway offering a wide range of opportunities for working together and socialising, sharing skills and knowledge and building friendships through working on practical projects in the various teams.
“It epitomises the ethos of the men’s sheds movement, providing a community space where men can enjoy practical hobbies, make friends, use skills learned in their working lives and learn new skills."
Winners will be announced at the UK Men’s Sheds Awards Ceremony on November 19.
