A £100k new look for veterinary practice in Whitley Bay

A veterinary practice in North Tyneside that has cared for pets in the local community for nearly 30 years is welcoming clients back following a £100,000 refurbishment.

Ayres Veterinary Centre in Whitley Bay has undergone an extensive refresh, with the investment being used to improve facilities throughout the practice and create a brighter, more welcoming environment for pets, clients and colleagues.

The practice temporarily closed in September to allow the refurbishment work to take place, with clients able to access veterinary care through other Ayres Veterinary Hospital & Centres sites during this period.

There is now a completely refreshed reception and waiting area, including new flooring, fresh decoration, a new reception desk and a new TV display.

The waiting area redesign is to provide separate areas for cats and dogs, helping to create a more comfortable and stress-free environment for pets while they wait for their appointment.

The practice’s consultation room is also part of the improvements.

Behind the scenes, the investment is improving facilities for the veterinary team too, including the creation of a new pharmacy area, kitchenette and toilet facilities.

Ayres Veterinary Centre Whitley Bay is a consultation-only practice, with both veterinary surgeons and veterinary nurses seeing patients at the site.

Pets requiring additional investigations, procedures or hospital care can access the wider facilities available through Ayres Veterinary Hospital & Centres.

Amy Jones, group practice manager at Ayres Veterinary Hospital & Centres, said: “Our Whitley Bay practice has been part of the local community for more than 20 years and is an incredibly popular and busy practice, so we are delighted to be investing £100,000 to give it the refurbishment it deserves.

“We know how much our clients value having veterinary care available locally and many have already been asking us about the improvements and telling us how excited they are to see the finished practice.

“Clients will notice a big difference when they walk through the door. Everything will feel much brighter, fresher and more welcoming, from the new flooring and decoration to the reception area and separate waiting spaces for cats and dogs.

“We've also taken the opportunity to improve the facilities behind the scenes for our veterinary team. We can’t wait to welcome everyone back and show them the new-look practice.”
