Author event at Waterstones in Morpeth

Waterstones in Morpeth will welcome Cressida Downing to talk about her debut novel later this month.

Drawing on her extensive research and time on Lindisfarne, she has written a medieval mystery of murder and secrets called ‘Consider the Ravens’.

Set on 15th Century Holy Island, the plot revolves around a scribe, Linnet, who is running from her criminal past and seeking sanctuary in the island of her childhood.

The monastery bursar Oswyn threatens to expose her past, but she is not the only one with secrets to hide. When Oswyn is found drowned, Linnet suspects the death is not accidental.

After another death, she realises there is a killer amongst the brethren and her own position makes her vulnerable – unless she can identify who it is.

An Evening with Cressida Downing will take place at the book shop in Sanderson Arcade on Thursday, September 17 from 6pm.
