Alnwick shoplifter given two year ban from five shops including Morrisons and Sainsbury's

An Alnwick shoplifter has been banned from entering five shops in the town.
Christopher Mole, 40, of Upper Howick Street, was placed under a criminal behaviour order by magistrates in Berwick.
He must not enter Morrisons, Sainsbury’s, Yorkshire Trading Company, Nisa and Poundstretcher for the next two years.
He had pleaded guilty at a previous hearing to theft from a shop.
Magistrates heard that on July 10 the defendant entered Morrisons in Alnwick and stole eight cans of lager worth £9.50. The offence was captured on CCTV and the culprit was identified by security officers.
The court heard the defendant had 26 convictions for 56 previous offences, 33 of them for theft.
The defendant, who was not in court, was ordered to pay £9.50 compensation to Morrisons and placed under a criminal behaviour order.
"We think it’s both necessary and proportionate,” chairman of magistrates Thomas Jackson said.
