Newgate Street road closure in Morpeth due to 'structural issues with a building'
One of the main roads in Morpeth town centre is currently closed to traffic.
A post on the Northumberland County Council Facebook page this afternoon states that “due to structural issues with a building”, Newgate Street will be closed until noon on Sunday (November 1).

It adds: “Pedestrian access will be maintained to sections of Newgate Street that are not impacted.”
Cafe Vault has been affected by this and it told the Gazette that it will be temporarily closing due to the issue.
A post by Rachael Hogg, one of the town councillors for the Morpeth North ward, on her councillor Facebook page states: “The building owners’ insurance are putting a structural scaffold in place Sunday morning.
“Newgate Street will need to be closed for the remainder of today to Sunday morning.”
