Grandson of The Conjuring investigators shares paranormal experiences in Ashington
A world-renowned paranormal investigator with a family connection to some of Hollywood’s most terrifying horror films shared his experiences with audiences in Ashington on Halloween.
Chris McKinnell, grandson of legendary paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren, whose cases inspired the hugely successful The Conjuring film franchise, visited Ashington’s Haunted Headquarters on Saturday, October 31.

The appearance proved a successful evening, giving paranormal enthusiasts the opportunity to hear first-hand accounts from a man who has spent much of his life investigating some of the world's most mysterious and unexplained phenomena.
But while his famous grandparents became household names through their investigations into demonic possession and terrifying hauntings, Chris offered the Ashington audience a rather different perspective on the paranormal.
He explained why he believes paranormal phenomena are real but questions many of the traditional explanations surrounding them.
A psychic who demands scientific evidence and an experienced exorcist who does not believe in demons, Chris challenged conventional thinking about ghosts, hauntings and the supernatural.
He also reflected on how his extraordinary career began at just 16 years old when his grandfather, Ed Warren, took him along to investigate a violent poltergeist case.
That early experience helped shape his life, although Chris went on to develop his own understanding of paranormal phenomena rather than simply following in his grandparents' footsteps.
The Ashington audience also had the opportunity to learn about his involvement in three investigations that later inspired major Hollywood films.
Among the most fascinating was the notorious Smurl haunting, involving a Pennsylvania family who reported years of terrifying disturbances in their home.
