Blyth Town suffer another narrow defeat as Easington Colliery edge crunch game

Blyth Town slipped to a narrow defeat against one of their promotion rivals on Saturday.

Blyth Town’s aim of returning to the Northern Premier League at the first attempt were delivered a blow at the weekend, after Easington Colliery AFC triumphed in a close encounter at Gateway Park.

Blyth came into the game knowing that a win would close the gap to their opponents in the table to just three points, however, Liam Adamson’s strike just before the hour mark ensured that they would have to settle for a nine-point deficit come full-time.

Town pushed for a reply in front of just over 200 at Gateway Park, but couldn’t find a way past Easington goalkeeper James Hopkinson.
