Ten-man Blyth Town suffer humbling 5-2 defeat against Whickham
Blyth Town were beaten heavily on home soil over the weekend.
Ten-man Blyth Town fell to a sobering 5-2 defeat at the hands of Whickham on Saturday afternoon.

After recording successive victories over Northallerton Town and Horden CW, Michael Connor’s side slumped to a damaging loss at Gateway Park that leaves them 12th in the Ebac Northern League Division One table.
Blyth made a disastrous start to the contest, conceding inside the first minute as Aaron Zamar put the visitors ahead, and would soon find themselves two behind when Tristan Ajavon struck six minutes later.
A hectic start to proceedings would continue as Sean Reid pulled one back to halve the deficit for Town, and the two teams would consequently head in separated by a single goal at the interval.
But Blyth suffered a hammer blow in the 68th minute when Joe Richardson was dismissed, and despite drawing level courtesy of a Nathan Nkunku penalty with a little under a quarter of an hour remaining, the Northumberland outfit’s numerical disadvantage would eventually take its toll as a late flurry of goals put them to the sword.
First, Favour Ekomemen restored Whickham’s lead, before efforts from Sean Comstock and Ajavon extinguished any lingering hopes of a Town comeback.
Blyth’s next outing comes against Birtley Town at The Arrowmark Home Improvements Stadium on Saturday, November 7th. Kick-off is scheduled for 3pm.
