Northumberland council' Homefinder property search service is set to reopen

The popular Northumberland Homefinder service that is used to search and apply for a home is due to be back up and running next week.

People will once again be able to search and bid for council properties on the Homefinder website from Monday, July 20.

Northumberland County Council's housing allocation service is delivered in partnership with other housing providers in the county.

It operates on a choice based letting service to ensure that social rented properties are allocated to those people, most in need.

During the coronavirus lockdown, the service was suspended and it has only been possible to allocate housing, both on a temporary and permanent basis, under exceptional circumstances.

Coun John Riddle, cabinet member with responsibility for housing, said: “As lockdown restrictions are now being eased we are looking to resume this important service in a way that is safe for our staff and the public.”
