The Morpeth Chamber of Trade relaunches with ambitious plans for local businesses
More than 20 local businesses and councillors gathered at Morpeth Town Hall to celebrate the Chamber of Trade’s relaunch and discuss future plans.
Morpeth Chamber of Trade is back in business with a shared ambition to support business growth, attract more visitors and strengthen the town’s business community.
The event brought together more than 20 local business representatives and councillors for networking, idea-sharing and discussions about making Morpeth an even better place to do business.
It also marked a step towards giving local businesses a stronger collective voice and closer links with the wider community and local representatives.

The relaunched Chamber’s interim team includes acting chair Sarah Legge, a local businesswoman, Ken Stait, a local businessman and stalwart member; Cllr John Beynon, a stalwart member; Cllr Pat Elton, Deputy Mayor of Morpeth, and Cllr Dr Wendy Fail, Mayor of Morpeth.
Sarah, who established her own business in 2004 and employs 25 local people, said: “We are excited to have relaunched the Chamber of Trade so that Morpeth businesses have a collective voice to help businesses grow, attract more visitors and connect with one another.
“We want to bring businesses, the community sector and councillors together to work collaboratively to make Morpeth a fantastic place to run a business and a great experience for visitors.
“Our first meeting was really well attended and we are delighted that we now have more than 30 businesses as members of the Chamber of Trade.
“It is encouraging to see such enthusiasm and a real willingness to work together for the benefit of Morpeth.”
The Chamber is encouraging more local businesses to join, share ideas and help shape initiatives supporting the town’s economy.
Its next meeting will take place at Barluga in Sanderson Arcade on Thursday, November 26, from 5.30pm to 7pm.
