Rail disruption between Berwick and Newcastle 'expected until end of the day' following electricity supply issue in Northumberland
The latest travel update from LNER about the rail disruption between Berwick and Newcastle is that it is “expected until the end of the day”.
It says that the issue which has been causing cancellations and delays today (Friday, August 28) is due to a failure of the electricity supply between Alnmouth and Newcastle.

The update adds: “This means that services running between these stations may be cancelled, delayed by up to 35 minutes, or revised.
“Some services will not call at Alnmouth.”
A reduced service is running between Edinburgh and London Kings Cross. Tickets will be accepted at no extra cost with various operators.
