Morpeth Library is one of the venues across the UK staging events in celebration of the National Year of Reading.

It will host David Mark on September 17 and 24 and October 1 from 10am to 11.30am as part of the Royal Literary Fund’s Reading Round programme.

Those who come along to Reading Round gather to have a short story and a poem read to them, then put under the microscope through engaged discussion.

David said: “It’s such a privilege to be able to see people who love books and poetry discover new voices and really dig into the emotional impact of the texts.

Morpeth Library is located in the Morpeth Sports and Leisure Centre.

“There’s no ‘right’ way to feel about what we read – I just want to create a space where we can get stuck into some brilliant writing, be a bit moved by it and maybe discover some new favourite authors together.”
