Bespoke 'woodland weddings' offer on country estate in Northumberland

Woodland weddings are on offer at a country estate in Northumberland

The Brinkburn Estate, near Longframlington, is offering couples the chance to exchange vows beneath towering trees with In Nature – a newly licensed outdoor ceremony setting which allows couples to marry beneath some of Britain's most impressive woodland trees, in the tranquillity of the River Coquet valley.

In Nature aims to offer an alternative to traditional ceremony spaces - placing the landscape itself at the centre of the wedding experience for couples seeking weddings that feel more personal, immersive and closely connected to nature.

Mark Fenwick, owner of Brinkburn Northumberland, said: "Many wedding venues provide a beautiful setting.

"We wanted to create something different, a ceremony where the landscape becomes part of the experience itself.

"When couples stand beneath these trees beside the river, surrounded by a place that has witnessed centuries of celebration, there is a sense of perspective that can't be designed or manufactured.”

Brinkburn specialises in long-weekend weddings – encouraging couples and their guests to experience the estate at a slower pace.

Rather than arriving for a single day, guests can stay on the estate from Friday through to Monday.

It has accommodation for up to twenty-two guests in five restored stone cottages, a yoga loft and bespoke dining, by Michelin-trained chef Tom Rookes of The Elder Tree.

Brinkburn intentionally only hosts a limited number of specialist weddings each year – designed for intimate celebrations of 22 to 52 guests and up to 80 in the evening.

Each wedding receives exclusive use of the estate and is shaped around the couple’s wishes.

Mr Fenwick added: "The one ingredient every couple wishes they had more of on their wedding day is time.

"Our role is to create the conditions where people can slow down enough to enjoy one of life's most important moments.”

Brinkburn will showcase In Nature during its Wedding Open Days on August 22 and 23 and September 12 and 13, when couples can explore the woodland ceremony setting alongside the estate's accommodation, reception spaces and gardens.
