Removing the cost barrier to accessing the arts, Schools Go Free enables local school children access to both film and live performances, offering not only entertainment but valuable cultural experiences.

William Blackshaw, company director at Blackshaws, said: “We are proud to support initiatives that make a real difference locally. Access to the arts can inspire confidence, creativity and ambition in young people, and we are delighted to play our part in making that happen.”

Alnwick Playhouse celebrates its 100th anniversary year this year, while Blackshaws celebrated its in 2019.

Playhouse artistic director Damian Cruden said: “The Playhouse is delighted to partner with Blackshaws, whose deep commitment to our local community is clear. William’s support for the arts is both forward thinking and genuinely inspiring.

"Schools Go Free will make a meaningful difference to the lives of young people across our region, and Blackshaws’ generous contribution is instrumental in bringing this initiative to life. We extend our sincere thanks to the entire Blackshaws team for their vital support.”
