Ashington man charged with causing serious injury by dangerous driving

Billy Sporne, 28, of Southern Close, Ashington, is also charged with driving without insurance.

It follows an incident in the early hours of Tuesday, October 13 when, after a police pursuit, a car left the road and crashed into a road sign and wall on North Seaton Road.

Ambulance crews then took a man and woman in their 20s to hospital to be treated for serious injuries.

He appeared at Teesside Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, October 21, and has been remanded in custody.

He is next due to appear at Newcastle Crown Court on November 20.
