This Talk Money Week (2-6 November), Northumbrian Water is encouraging customers who may be struggling financially to check what help is available, with support ranging from discounted tariffs, flexible payment plans, payment breaks and independent advice.

Some customers could be eligible for discounts of up to 50% off their annual water bill if their household has a total income of less than £30,000.

Meanwhile, the company’s WaterSure tariff may help metered customers who have high essential water use due to a medical condition or larger family.

More than 126,000 customers across the region are already receiving help with their water bills, backed by a £100 million support package set aside by the firm through to 2030.

Mark Wilkinson, Head of Income for Northumbrian Water, said: "We know money can be a real worry, particularly as we head into the colder months when household costs can increase.

"But some customers could be missing out on support simply because they don’t realise they’re eligible. That’s why Talk Money Week is a good opportunity to check what help is available.

“No one should be worrying about paying their water bill and we'd encourage anyone who is concerned to get in touch and talk to us.

“We have lots of schemes available and many people are often surprised to find out they qualify for help.”
