Former world champion Glen Durrant visits Berwick Darts Academy

Berwick Darts Academy welcomed three-time World Champion and 2020 Premier League winner Glen Durrant to the Northern View for a coaching masterclass last weekend.

Glen coached two groups of 12 players over three hours, and was left thoroughly impressed by the talent that Berwick had to offer.

The Middlesbrough native helped players with the mechanics of their throw, as well as providing advice on the mental side of the game, and their pre-throw routines.

Glen picked a winner from each group, with each player receiving a signed Glen Durrant shirt. The two lucky recipients were Harry Cowan and Aidan Scott, with Glen admitting that it was a tough call to make.

Elsewhere, Ashton Wood hit his first 180 - and what better time to do it than in front of a former BDO champ!

At the end, Glen said how much he enjoyed the morning of coaching, and how impressed he was with the academy, coaches, volunteers, and players. The 55-year-old has also pledged to donate a unique prize for a player and a parent in attendance - to be VIP guests of his at this year's World Championships at London’s Alexandra Palace in December. The winner will be allowed into the commentary box, as well as being introduced to the likes of Glen’s fellow pundit Wayne Mardle.

Berwick Darts Academy would like to thank Glen for his work on Saturday, as well as the incredible prize he donated. Thanks to Isabel at the Northern View for making the session happen too.
