Straker '˜ton' for Alnmouth in home victory

Alnwick 1sts enjoyed a comfortable seven wicket home win over Bates Cottages in the Northumberland Premier League at the weekend.

Bates Cottages batted first and managed to put on 127 all out in the 47th over.

Three of their batsmen - Matty Walton, Gary Dennis and Mark Ashburn - all hit 23 for the visitors.

David Wright was Alnwick’s most siccessful bowler with figures of 4-24 off his 11 overs.

In reply, Alnwick eased their way to 131-3 in 45 overs with Max Harrison on 34 not out, Andrew Stewart on 28 not out and Andrew Scott on 23.

Alnmouth and Lesbury had a 64 run victory over Seaton Burn 1sts at home.

Paul Straker was the mainstay of the innings as he hit 14 boundaries on his way to 106, with Tom Vickers adding 41, as Alnmouth posted 194-7 in their 50 overs innings.

In reply, Seaton Burn had Abhishek Bajaj hit 50, but they were 130-9 at the end of their innings, with Jhy Berry taking 4-31.

Alnmouth and Lesbury 2nds won by six wickets when they travelled to Shotley Bridge 2nds.

The home side made a decent fist of it when they put on 190-8 in their 45 overs, with Ian Heslop on 49, Phil Mellons on 40 and Ian Archbold on 35 not out.

Lukas Robinson took 3-38 for Alnmouth, who in reply saw Alistair Batey hit 65, Robert Burnett 41 not out and Evan Moir 38 as they rattled off 191-4 with just one ball remaining.

Alnwick 2nds (58 all out) lost by ten wickets to Bates Cottages 2nds, who hit 64-0 in reply.
