Si King brings Northumberland community together in support of the Bright Garden Appeal
TV presenter and food expert Si King has backed a fundraising appeal.
The Hairy Biker was at Alnwick Playhouse to support the Bright Garden Appeal, a unique partnership between Bright Northumbria Healthcare Charity and The Alnwick Garden.

The event, which featured a live conversation, audience Q&A and book signing with Si, brought together community members, supporters and partners to celebrate the power of nature in improving health and wellbeing.
The appeal aims to harness the therapeutic benefits of nature by creating vibrant green spaces across Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust sites, offering places of calm, connection and reflection for patients, families and staff.
Funds raised will also help support The Alnwick Garden’s community and education programmes.
The event raised over £1,500, helping to bring the appeal one step closer to its fundraising target of £300,000.
Si said: “The North East is built on kindness, resilience and looking after one another. The Bright Garden Appeal brings together two incredible charities with a shared belief that gardens can genuinely change lives.
“Whether it’s giving someone recovering in hospital a peaceful place to sit, helping families find a moment of calm during difficult times, or creating spaces where people can reconnect with nature, these gardens make a real difference.
"I’m incredibly proud to support the appeal and I hope people across our region will join me in supporting it.”
The event was hosted by Suzy Walker, founder of Alnwick Storyfest.
Helen Stanton from The Accidental Bookshop generously donated 10% of all book sales from the morning back to the appeal.
Rob Graham, head of Bright Charity, said: “We’re incredibly grateful to Si King for his support, as well as everyone who attended, donated and helped make the event such a success.
"We’d also like to thank Alnwick Playhouse, Suzy Walker and Helen Stanton for playing such an important role in helping us raise both awareness and vital funds for the Bright Garden Appeal.
“Every pound raised will help us create and enhance green spaces that support the wellbeing of patients, families and NHS staff across our Trust.”
