Moorhouse Farm Shop and Coffee Shop in Northumberland to close as owners are retiring
An award-winning farm shop in Northumberland is to close, its owners have announced.
Ian and Victoria Byatt revealed the news in a post on the Moorhouse Farm Shop & Coffee Shop Facebook page.
Located in the Stannington area, they source virtually all of the meat from their own farms just down the road from the farm shop. The coffee shop is popular with both locals and those passing through or on holiday.
The quality of their produce has been recognised with a range of national and regional awards over the years.

The post by Ian and Victoria included the following: “Having built the business from scratch over the last 23 years, you will understand this has been a difficult decision to make – but equally, we are excited to see what comes next when we have a little more time available.
“We will remain involved in the farming side of things, so there will still be plenty to keep us busy.
“We couldn’t have succeeded without all of you, our customers, and we sincerely thank you all for your loyalty to us and for choosing locally sourced food over the years.
“Many of you have become friends as well as customers and we will miss all of the great chat over the counter and at the (Morpeth) Farmers’ Market.
“Of course, we must also express our immense gratitude to the great team at Moorhouse Farm, many of whom have been with us for a long time.
“All of our staff, both past and present, have been key to maintaining the quality of produce and warmth of customer service you have come to know us for.
“Our last day of trading will be Saturday 5th September, so you still have several weeks to continue to come along for your regular produce.
“Our final Farmers’ Market will be at Morpeth this Saturday 1st August.”
