As holidaymakers rush to book trips to ‘green’ destinations following a Government announcement, readers have shared their views on travelling abroad this summer.

Changes to the UK Government’s travel list were announced on Thursday, June 24, prompting a surge in demand for trips.

Fourteen countries and territories were moved to green status in the latest announcement, including Spain’s Balearic Islands, Malta and Madeira.

There is no requirement to quarantine on return from a green-list country, but Covid tests must be taken in line with Government requirements.

We asked our readers whether they planned to travel abroad this summer.

This is what you said on our social media pages:

Bill Middlemass: “Until the world lines up its rules, I'm staying clear of it. Plenty to see in the UK.”

Dorothy Cooper: “The rules could change in a heartbeat mid-holiday and you could end up with a huge bill for extra costs.”

Carl Gorse: “Not really we have plenty of places here, let's spend it on local tourism whom need it most.”

Marilyn Briggs: “In a heartbeat.”

Jenna Rutherford: “Yes but not if [you] have to wear masks.”

Lozzy Lozbuds: “Not while there's a traffic light system in place and you have to be tested. I want to be more certain that nothing will change when I book things.”

James Clare: “No, and I know loads of people who would normally travel quite a lot who aren't going to this year either.
