Big Learner Relay in Alnwick

The Big Learner Relay, which is raising money for Children in Need, stopped at Alnwick Castle Square, during its 3,000-mile, two-week journey around the UK.

Driving instructors relayed a top box (pictured) from one driving lesson to another around the country.

On Remembrance Sunday, the convoy, headed by Ian Gunby School of Motoring, arrived at Alnwick Castle to meet the next stage’s lead car, Vikki Holt, of Top Gun Driving School.

By kind permission of the Duke of Northumberland, a 45-minute event was held, which included singing sisters Emily and Lorna Smith, saxophonist Jonny D, free tea, coffee and cake and an appearance from Pudsey.

A two-minute silence was observed at 11am with Jonny D playing The Last Post and Reveille.
