Alnwick win by two wickets, Alnmouth lose by 11 runs

Alnwick 1sts picked up a two wicket win when they faced Whickham 1sts at home in the Northumberland and Tyneside Senior League on Saturday.

Whickham batted first and were all out for only 94 with Lawrence Davey their top scorer on 23.

David Wright took 3-7 and Andrew Wright claimed 3-25.

In reply, Alnwick saw Robert Green hit 25 as they put on 95-8 in 47 overs, with two of the visiting bowlers taking three wickets apiece.

Alnmouth and Lesbury 1sts went down to an 11 run defeat at the hands of Ryton 1sts.

Mo Ali was in fime form with the bat and hit 117 for Ryton off 152 balls, his innings including 16 boundaries. J O’Neil also put on 60 as Ryton posted a score of 256-6 in their 50 overs. Jhy Berry and Russell Hughes each claimed two wickets apiece for Alnmouth, who in reply put on 245-7 in their 50 overs with openers Hughes making 74 and Paul Straker 53. Alistair batey also weighed in with a useful 43 and Edward Brunton 30.

Alnwick 2nds (128 with Harry Lobb on 34) lost by three wickets to Whickham 2nds (129-7).
