The gesture has been made by Lemmington Cottages, a collection of holiday homes four miles west of Alnwick, as part of the #treatournhs initiative.

It is offering Lemmington Lodge, a three-bedroom timber-clad property offering incredible views towards the Cheviots.

Owner Lydia Archard said: “We would like to say a heartfelt thank you to all those frontline NHS workers who are working tirelessly and selflessly giving essential care to everyone in need in these challenging times.

“To say a special thank you from us at Lemmington Cottages, we are giving away a well-deserved three-night stay at Lemmington Lodge for an NHS worker and their family to enjoy a luxury break in beautiful Northumberland.”

The holiday is to be taken when it is safe to travel.

Lydia added: “I saw another holiday company was doing something similar down south and we thought it would be nice to treat our NHS workers when all this is over.

“Obviously, our holiday cottages are all closed for the time being so we had a think about what we could do to give something back and give someone a chance of a little luxury. We felt the Lemmington Lodge would be perfect.”

In addition, it has pulled together to offer a range of gifts from local businesses. These include homemade jewellery from Mekka Design, fragrances from Notes of Northumberland, a Jane Lovett cookbook, handwash from Noble Isle, a £15 voucher from Pop and Flo, an item from Master Fox Clothing and a selection from Pilgrims Coffee.

“There’s been an amazing response,” said Lydia. “We’ve had over 100 entries already and there’s still time for NHS workers to nominate themselves or for someone else to nominate them.

“It’s also been great that so many local businesses have come on board to offer some fantastic prizes,” she added.

To enter, follow @lemmington_cottages on Instagram or search for Lemmington Cottages on Facebook and nominate an NHS worker by tagging them in the comments. Entries close on May 8 and the winner will be selected at random.
