After a coronavirus-enforced three month closure, pubs across Northumberland are putting plans in place to reopen from July 4.
Here is a selection of our favourites as we eagerly anticipate that chilled first pint on a summer’s day….
1. The Dirty Bottles Taproom and Smokehouse, Alnwick
The Dirty Bottles Taproom and Smokehouse, has been open for over two centuries and the building is thought to have been constructed in the 1600s. Photo: JW
2. The Olde Ship, Seahouses
Just a few hundred yards from the harbour, The Olde Ship in Seahouses has a wonderful nautical theme along with a beer garden looking out towards the Farne Islands. Photo: Google
3. The Castle Inn, Bamburgh
Known locally as The Middle, the pub is homely and traditional, with its wood-panelling, exposed stone walls and ceiling beams.
The bar is appropriately in the middle of the pub, with seating areas all around it. And through the back is a conservatory-style extension with functional tables of various sizes. Even further back, there’s the beer garden, with a patio and classy metal furniture, followed by a grassed area of multi-coloured picnic benches. Photo: Google
4. Craster Arms, Beadnell
The Craster Arms is situated in the heart of Beadnell and has a wide selection of beers, wines, spirits and local ale. Photo: nop
