5. Apple Inn, Lucker
The Apple Inn, at Lucker, beat off stiff competition to win the gold award at the North East Tourism Awards.
It serves its own Lucker Gold and St Hilda's ale from Alnwick Brewery, plus a vast selection of beers, lagers and ciders as well as freshly brewed coffees and teas. Photo: Apple Inn
6. The Ship Inn, Low Newton.
Complete with its own brewery, The Ship Inn at Newton-by-the-Sea has long been a favourite of visitors to the Northumberland coast. Prince Charles was a visitor there in 2012. Photo: Gemma Marriner
7. The Black Bull, Etal
The Black Bull at Etal, the only thatched roof pub in Northumberland, reopened its doors in June 2018 after a two-year closure and a major refurbishment. Since September it has been under the management of Cheviot Brewery, in collaboration with Ford and Etal Estates. Photo: Ian Smith
