The support and grants available for Northumberland small businesses - here's how to get help

Firms which already receive small business rate relief and rural rate relief can apply for a £10,000 grant, while retail, hospitality, leisure businesses operating from premises with a rateable value of between £15,000 and £51,000 can apply for a £25,000 grant.
A registration form is available now on Northumberland County Council’s website at www.northumberland.gov.uk/businesshub and the authority will be paying out these grants as soon as possible once details are verified.

Hide AdCouncil leader Peter Jackson said: “We are very delighted that the details and guidance are now confirmed on these grants and that we can start paying them to the businesses that are eligible.
“Our staff have been working at pace to ensure the emergency grants are paid directly to business bank accounts and also that rates relief is applied where applicable.
“We hope that this goes some way to support our businesses in Northumberland at this extremely difficult time.”

Hide AdThe council has also established a specialist team to support businesses and employers both during and after the COVID-19 outbreak.
The Northumberland Business Hub will help people to access available support, providing advice and guidance, and find out what the key issues are for the business community in the county.
In addition to the grants and loans mentioned above, measures that are now available to businesses include:
Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme;
Deferring VAT and income tax payments;
Statutory sick pay relief package for SMEs;
12-month business rates holiday for all retail, hospitality, leisure and nursery businesses in England;

Hide AdA new lending facility from the Bank of England to help support liquidity among larger firms, helping them bridge coronavirus disruption to their cash flows through loans;
HMRC Time To Pay Scheme;
Self-employment Income Support Scheme (SEISS), a grant worth 80% of profits up to a cap of £2,500 per month.
