The Union Chain Bridge, which forms the border between England and Scotland at Horncliffe, is undergoing a £10.5m refurbishment. Full restoration started last October and now work is starting to take down the main chains of the bridge which supported the deck, leaving nothing but the River Tweed separating the two countries. Highways England Historical Railways Estate (HRE) is repairing Twizel Viaduct, near Cornhill-on-Tweed, to extend the life of the viaduct and allow people to continue enjoying the popular attraction.
