Charlotte and Leo Watson created the display around their home in Allerburn Lea, aided by their children Louis and Nico.
Adverse weather over the opening weekend meant the display was cut short, but the family have still managed to raise a whopping £3,186 for local causes following their final evening on October 31.
The funds will go to: Chameleon Buddies, supporting women following birth trauma and stoma surgery, BOOST who support pupils at Duchess’s Community High School, Community@NE66 who support local young people, and Alnwick and District Food Bank.
Alnwick Town Mayor, Councillor Geoff Watson, was delighted to officially open the display on Wednesday, October 28.
He said: “It's frighteningly good and fantastic at the same time. The whole family have put in an enormous effort to create this wonderful display. On behalf of all the town’s residents – thank you!”
Gill Castle, CEO of Chameleon Buddies, thanked the family for supporting her charity saying Charlotte and Leo put so much effort in to the display.
Sentiments echoed by Carol Jagger, Community@NE66 trustee, who said: “It’s just a delight to see the joy on the faces of the youngsters viewing the display – what fun!.”
BOOST representative Shelly Hunt added: “We are very grateful to be one of the groups who will benefit from the display. I pass by it every evening and it always thrills!”
